Wild Hogs with John Travolta, Tim Allen (Home Improvement), Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy, is a delightful, funny, motorcycle, coming of middle-age story.  Macy's character of Dudley is a top of the art form performance as a motorcycle riding, computer geek gone, sort of, wild.

The events are improbable, but within the realm of possibility, and the movie is filled with funny scene after funny scene.

Unfortunately, several fine actresses are in the movie, but with little to do.  Jill Hennessy (Television’s Crossing Jordan and Law and Order) is one of the wives holding the old boys back and part of the reason that they want to make the trek across country in the first place.  Marisa Tomei, an Oscar winning actress has the heavier role but still, does not have one of the feature roles.  It is a men’s romp, no doubt about it.

The language is modern, blunt and frank, so you might have to have a thirteen-year old explain it, but other than that, it’s all right for a wide range of audience.

It’s not for a church audience.  It is loaded with violence but all of it is of The Three Stooges and Jerry Lewis variety, where there is lots of crashing but no one gets hurt, and certainly no deaths.

John McGinley (Dr. Cox on television’s Scrubs) plays a highway patrol officer that is outside of McGinley’s normal roles, and I would spoil it if I said too much, but he is funny, and a bit embarrassing to some.  Also, the ending has a surprise, which highlights the jokes of the movie, but it also has to remain a surprise.

I can recommend it, with the stipulation that the language comes straight from the oil fields and old sailors, so if that bothers anyone in your family, just have someone tell you about it, scene by funny scene.
