Pawhuska OK USA - News - Events Coming soon to a park near you! With a cast of thousands (if you count the ants)! So big it could not be brought to the screen before now, or even to a really big fly swatter. This is a story long in the making, a story that could not be told before, because it hadn’t happened yet. They were warned, “If you bring food, the ants will come.” But they didn’t listen. They came to Williams Park in spite of the warning, bringing food, potluck dinners, left over sushi, and iced tea, drinks of all kinds. Some brought paper plates, plastic knives, forks and spoons. Some brought chairs and napkins. And why isn’t napkins spelled knapkins? If knives are spelled knives, instead of nives, and knees are spelled that way instead of nees, why isn’t napkins spelled that way too? Could it be part of the sinister yet diabolical plot of the mad scientists behind the Kool-aid experiments gone wrong which created the giant ants? See it all in person, Williams Park, Pawhuska, Oklahoma from around noon until around six in the evening on that fateful Saturday of June 9th, 2007, a day no one could forget; a day when Alka-Seltzer was needed. Meet the editor of the Journal-Capital (if he comes), meet Michael, the force behind www.pawhuska.com (if he comes). See black ants, red ants, beige ants, local ants, more ants than you thought possible. There is no fee, no one to call; neither for help nor to make reservations. Show up, meet strange people, eat food, drink things and talk to people who may not recognize you. Wear a name tag if you have one, or better yet, just make people guess who you are. See Bubba Winchester in person (if he makes it back from the Rivera in France in time); meet Charleen, Bubba’s sister, fresh from her parole and ready to go straight. See Susan Bacon Hurt, playing the Baked Beans Lady, Jay Lynn Hurt playing the baffled farmer, Charley “Road Kill” Wadsworth as the misguided meat supplier. Unfortunately, some chickens were hurt in the production of this venture. In fact, ten of them met an untimely death. Dinner will be served in their honor. If you must call someone, call Payn-e-dun, Have camera, Will Travel, 918-331-7416. (music breaks in) dum dum dum dum, dum de dum dum dum dum. DON’T MISS IT ! COMING TO A WILLIAMS PARK NEAR YOU SOON, JUNE 9, SATURDAY 12-6 (More or less). If you do get there early, grab the two tables and hold on to them until the Ant Hunters get there. Coming soon!
